Research and review still required

Independent Sunni, Shia and academic review has not been completed. Arabic and translation spot-checks, contested historical claims, representation across traditions and the treatment of difficult ethical subjects require that specialist attention. Automated data and link checks are not a substitute.

The hadith selection currently uses Sunni collections. It is not a complete cross-tradition library. Tafsir studies are short worked comparisons, not full commentaries. Meccan and Medinan labels are traditional metadata and should not be mistaken for undisputed historical dating. The wider modules listed under In preparation remain future work.

Text provenance and permissions

Arabic: Tanzil Quran Text, Uthmani version 1.1, copyright © 2007–2026 Tanzil Project. Used verbatim with attribution and a link to Tanzil. The complete text licence is included. Text updates can be checked at Tanzil updates. This display does not represent every canonical reading.

English: Marmaduke Pickthall’s 1930 translation, whose original text is public domain. The digital transcription was extracted from the Pickthall-labelled fields of Project Gutenberg ebook 16955. Source line wrapping is normalised, but verse wording is retained. The source notice and licence accompany the text. Four malformed reference labels were repaired during import and are identified in the corrections log.

The dated English can be unfamiliar and can conceal interpretive choices. Every verse has an external comparison link. Copyrighted modern translations are not reproduced wholesale here. Hadith entries are original short paraphrases linked to attributed reports, with their traditional collection status explained. Earlier-scripture studies link to the public-domain World English Bible and other attributed sources. The selected Bible reader contains 49 full chapters (1,585 verses). Its retained digital snapshot is identified in the provenance record. Verse segments are joined in source order; publisher footnotes and paragraph formatting are not reproduced. World English Bible is a trademark of eBible.org. This snapshot is not represented as the latest publisher revision.

Surah metadata: names, verse counts and traditional classifications come from Tanzil metadata. Introductions and topic selections are editorial guides. They are not part of the Qur’anic text.
