About the project

Careful questions. Open possibilities.

An independent inquiry connected with Considered Press.

Updated 20 October 2026Editorial review edition

For more than one kind of reader

The Islam Inquiry is an independent editorial project for Muslims, non-Muslims, sceptics and people reconsidering inherited beliefs. It explains Muslim understandings fairly, investigates historical questions and gives serious objections room to be heard.

Its task is to make claims and reasoning easier to examine. It is neither an institutional religious ruling service nor a competition between religions. A reader is welcome to arrive with conviction, doubt or an unfinished question.

Sources and expertise

The project pays close attention to sources and the distinction between an assertion and its support. Islamic studies, Arabic and late-antique history require their own expertise. Independent specialist review has not been completed.

An identity of its own

The project shares an editorial approach with The Jesus Inquiry: a short answer, a fuller explanation, sources and clearly stated limits. Its subject, source traditions and visual identity are its own. The proposed companion book is connected with Considered Press.

Where the project stands

This is a public editorial project. Read the content-status page for the text sources, coverage and work still required. The website is published at theislaminquiry.com.
